Dartmouth engagement photosession

First date for the second time!

Naomi and Anders are one of those couples —

if they didn’t know each other and you were their friend, you would totally try to set them up and then tell that story at their wedding! I got lucky to meet them when they decided to make me their wedding photographer—and after searching and touring venues virtually during the latest lockdown, they also scored their dream venue at Sadie Belle Farm — here comes the bride in the summer of 2022!

When Naomi and Anders contacted me, we had our initial consultation over Whatsapp video— thanks technologi! (Nope, that’s not a typo, I really like pronouncing it that way 😂). After the lockdown, we were finally able to schedule their engagement photography session and meet in person. We bonded over our love for good calamari and Anders mentioned how the place they went on their first date had a pretty mean serving of calamari, so after a few suggestions for the engagement session, they decided to recreate their first date.

Bring back the Calamari!

Battery Park Beer Bar & Eatery decided to take it off the menu for the summer, so we had to do without. My restaurant rating system measures in calamari, so if you know a really good one - I’d like to hear from you!

Everything else was perfectly amazing and went as planned— great company, food, beers, cocktails and mocktails, the weather, the walk that Naomi and Anders took on their first date, and the wedding photos came out pretty amazing too!

Having an engagement session on the anniversary of their actual engagement as well is awesome beyond words!—not all of us stay in the same place and have an opportunity to repeat such a fun adventure!

I am thankful to discover more of Dartmouth and HRM during this engagement photo session — as someone who recently relocated to Halifax, being a photographer in Halifax Nova Scotia I get so excited to get out and photograph ALL THE NEW PLACES! And what a day full of discoveries it was —romantic bridges and railroad tracks, colourful graffiti murals and You’re like a melody mural (a public art campaign created by Fathom Studio and commissioned by Downtown Dartmouth Business Commission) reminded me what I love so much about being a photographer, especially a wedding photographer. Besides creating fun new memories for people and meeting amazing couples like Naomi and Anders, I get to discover All The Places in Nova Scotia and around the world!
